aWARDS were handed out at the annual meeting of Chesterfield & District Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds.

Chairman Jean Jackson presented the President’s Cup for achievement to Eleanor Kaye of Clay Cross Guild for her services to her guild and the organisation.

Wingerworth, the newest guild in the federation, won the Membership Shield, and this was presented to guild chairman, Marion Nuttall.

Retiring president Chris Collins handed her badge of office over to the new president Pauline Farnsworth and thanked the guilds for their friendship and support over the past two years.

Federation chairman Jean thanked Audrey Jenkinson, who retired from the committee, and Winnie Crich, retiring as vice-chairman. She welcomed Yvonne Ogden to the role of vice-chairman.

Annual reports were presented by secretary Joan Savory, treasurer Muriel Stonehouse and chairman Jean. A number of successful events had been held including lunches, a soiree, an arts and crafts fair and a carol service.

National achievements had included the federation quiz team winning the Townswomen’s Guild general knowledge quiz, Jan Buck being elected to serve on the National Board of Trustees and Pauline Farnsworth qualifying as a regional craft judge.
