A PROUD widow unveiled a plaque in Chesterfield town centre in honour of her late husband who spent over 40 years of his life raising thousands of pounds for charities.

Enid Pullen, 76, of Newbold, Chesterfield, told how her late husband James supported about 15 worthy causes including Leukaemia Research, the RNLI and Ashgate Hospice.

She said: “James started collecting for a hospital charity after his first wife died with kidney disease and he never stopped. He sadly got cancer and passed away last year but while he was ill he still kept collecting.”

Chesterfield Borough Council arranged for the plaque to be put up with the Mayor and Mayoress Peter and Jean Barr at Chesterfield Co-op where James did collections.
