CHESTERFIELD Tourist Information Centre is set to get a £40,000 refurbishment.
The revamp will see the centre’s name change to Chesterfield Visitor Information Centre.
The project has been made possible thanks to a grant from the European Regional Development Fund.
Work is set to start in February and will include new shelving and decorating.
The names of famous people associated with Chesterfield will also be incorporated in the building and George Stephenson, Gordon Banks, Lady Baden-Powell and Bess of Hardwick have been selected.
The refurbishment will also see the facility’s 24 hour interactive kiosk removed but bosses say it will be replaced with information vinyls and links to the website.
A spokeswoman for Chesterfield Borough Council, which is leading the project, said: “It will look a lot more modern and vibrant and more user friendly.”
