Budding Delia Smiths cooked up tasty treats in the finals of a competition run by Derbyshire Girlguiding.

Having beaten off challengers around the county, the six finalist teams battled it out for the title Go Cook It champions at Matlock Green.

Teams of three were tasked with producing a three-course meal for two, showcasing fresh, seasonal and local produce.

The girls served up delights such as home -made pasta, home-baked bread with home-made sundried tomatoes, chicken curry, home grown courgette and mozzarella salad and rhubarb and ginger crumble.

Judges awarded first place to 1st Starkhomes Guides, whose team comprised Sarah Needham, Alex Needham and Georgia Bettis, representing Derbyshire Mid East.

The runners-up were 1st Sandiacre Guides from Derbyshire Erewash.

Judges included county councillors George and Jean Wharmby, Derbyshire Dales district councillor Tony Millward, Matlock town councillor Peter Wildgoose, Guide County Commissioner Edwina Edwards and former home economics teacher Lorna Gibbs.

Other finalists were 3rd Brampton, 1st Ripley, 1st Chapel-en-le Frith and 1st Weston.
