COMPANIES and support groups are sponsoring the Derbyshire Times 2012 Business Awards as shining examples of successful enterprise in a bid to encourage others to follow in their footsteps.
The sponsors are urging companies to enter or be nominated for any of a number of award categories before an extended September 7 deadline.
Chief executive George Cowcher, of Derbyshire chamber of commerce, said: “We’re delighted to support the awards by sponsoring the Best Business Idea Award.
“Businesses are relied on to drive recovery and these awards celebrate companies achieving success in challenging times.”
Awards and sponsors include Business Idea - DNCC, Healthy Workplace - Derbyshire PCT, Creative Derbyshire Award - Creative Derbyshire, Lifetime Achievement - Banner Jones, Overall Business - Chesterfield Borough Council. Marketing group Destination Chesterfield is also sponsoring the event.
A spokesman for TMAT, which has 20 apprentices and is sponsoring the Apprentice Award, said: “TMAT is committed to offering apprenticeships to give people opportunities to build careers.”
A spokesman for P&A insolvency, which is sponsoring the Small Business Award, said: “Sponsorship is a way of showing our commitment to a thriving business community.”
Franke Sissons, which is sponsoring the Customer Service Award, said customer service has been fundamental to its success.
Retailer Award sponsors Purpose Media said: “We want to honour a retailer that has shown ambitious but realistic plans.”
A Chesterfield College spokesman said it is sponsoring the Young Business Person of the Year Award because the development of youngsters and supporting the economy are among its priorities.
