Tibshelf WI is currently Championing the Community Save a Life Scheme and has arranged a number of courses open to the public to teach emergency life support skills.

It is a fact that some very simple skills can save lives in the event of an emergency and the Community Save a Life Scheme aims to teach those skills to as many people as possible.

Members of the WI in Tibshelf will be undertaking the simple training during their February meeting but are keen for this to be rolled out through the community, so that everybody ideally will feel empowered to help a potential casualty in the interim time whilst professional help is sought.

The first two courses are to be held in in the Village Hall. The first is on Saturday, February 9, 10.30am to 12.30pm, and the second, Wednesday, February 13, 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

These free courses are open to anyone, call Deborah Watson on 07817288953 or Sara Byard on 07969 530800, or see Jayne Simpson in the Village Hall office.

This course is run by volunteers and is backed by East Midlands Ambulance Service and The British Heart Foundation. Tibshelf Parish Council is supporting the scheme by allowing free use of the Village Hall for the courses.

Cllr Deborah Watson gave a presentation to Bolsover District Council to introduce the scheme. The council will support and publicise Community Save a Life throughout the district of Bolsover.
