Saturday, August 2

National Day of Stitch. Come and join members of the Chesterfield branch of the Embroiders Guild for a day of fun and stitching at Chesterfield market place from 10am to 3.30pm. Branch members will be stitching ‘Birds’. There will be packs of fabric and thread prepared for visitors to stitch and take away to complete. Party in the Garden. At Chatsworth House. Dust off your dancing shoes for a party of classic disco, pop and soul classics . Hit after hit will feature in this live music concert, which features a 10-piece band comprising London’s top session musicians. Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Kool & The Gang will be some of the artists featured, through to pop classics from Wham, Spandau Ballet and more!

Exhibition. “Life in Newbold in World War One”. An exhibition of reports and memorabilia at Newbold Parish Church, St John’s Road, Newbold. 10am-4pm. Refreshments and lunches served throughout in the Parish Room. Admission free.

Coffee morning. Staveley Community Centre, next to Staveley St John the Baptist Church, 9.40am until 11am. Hot drinks and light refreshments will be available, plus a table top sale of goods. Everyone welcome.

Exhibition. An exhibition of First World War memorabilia, photographs and art work, will be held in the Community Room at St Matthew’s Church, Renishaw.

Cream tea and Open Garden. St Paul’s Church, Hasland, invites you to a vintage strawberry cream tea and open garden at 261 Chesterfield Road, Temple Normanton, 2pm to 5pm. Admission £2 to the garden, and all the tea items will be individually priced. There will also be a raffle, bric-a-brac stall, and plants for sale. All proceeds from the event will be for St Paul’s Church.
