Social sequence dance in Calow.

Friday 4th July - 6.30pm beginners and 8pm advanced.

Dance at Calow Community Centre on Allpits Road, all sequence dancers welcome, beginners 6.30pm till 7.45pm and advanced 8pm till 10.30pm.

The Grand Depart of the Tour de France in Yorkshire.

Saturday 5th July - 11am.

One of the most prestigous sporting events in the world, the Tour de France comes to England this year for the second time in it’s history, widely anticipated, the Grand Depart will kick off on the Headrow in Leeds at 11am, before finishing up in Harrogate with a sprint finish at between 4.20 and 4.45pm.

Flower festival in Coal Aston.

Saturday 5th July - 10am till 7pm.

There will be a flower festival at the Wesleyan Reform Church in Coal Aston.

Admission free.

Alfreton Heritage Open Weekend.

Saturday 5th July - 12 noon till 4pm.

There will be an opening of the Alfreton Lido and an exhibition of the local anniversary memorabilia at the Heritage Chapel on Alfreton’s Rodgers Lane cemetery.

Author to attend Gala in Coal Aston.

Saturday 5th July - 12.30pm.

Hazel Helliwell will be attending the Gala in Coal Aston with proceeds from her new book, Meant to Meet, will be given to Guide Dogs for the Blind (Derbyshire) and RNIB (Derbyshire).

Bakewell Carnival.

Saturday 5th July - 2.30pm.

There will be a crowning of the carnival queen at 2.30pm at the Bakewell Recreation Ground, a carnival procession around town at 3.00pm, miniature trains and face painting, as well as Punch and Judy sideshows.

Irish night in Ashover.

Saturday 5th July - 7pm till 8pm.

Pat Jordan and Finians Ranbow will be performing at Uppertown Social Centre in Ashover.

Ladies acapella concert and choir performance.

Saturday 5th July - 7pm.

Chesterfield’s ladies acapella chorus Auroa and Welsh choir Noteworthy are performing at St Thomas Church, Chatsworth Road.

Tickets: £8 and £6 concessions.

Performance by John Pickering in New Brimington.

Sunday 6th July - 10.45am.

John will be performing many of his own composistions and will accompany himself on guitar at Mount Tabor Methodist Church on Victoria Street, light refreshments will be provided afterwards.

Allotment open day in Boythorpe.

Sunday 6th July - between 11am and 3pm.

An open day will be held at the Boythorpe Allotments on Boythorpe Cresent in Chesterfield, visitors will be able to look at the gardens, have a go on the tombola stall and sample refreshments.
