TEMPLE NORMANTON: Brass band concert at Party in the Park

On Saturday evening, September 28, Shirebrook Miners Welfare UNISON band were in action at a Party In The Park function organised by members of St James Church, Temple Normanton at Hasland Village Hall in Eastwood Park, Hasland.

The band, led by musical director Mark Wilcockson, played a programme of popular and traditional brass band music as the party goers enjoyed their ‘picnics’. There were solo contributions from band members Glenn Birks (cornet) who played ‘A Swedish Hymn’, Mark Brimble (soprano cornet) who played ‘Flowerdale’ and Nick Stokes (bass trombone) who played ‘King Of The Road’.

The party was brought to a conclusion with the band performing a ‘Last Night Of The Proms’ theme as the party revellers sang and waved flags as the band played favourite items such as ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Land of Hope And Glory.
