A CANCER victim raised pots of cash for charity when she hosted a tea party.

Twenty-three-year-old Laura Bacon, formerly of Clay Cross, who is suffering from cancer of the lungs, liver and blood, helped raise £1,500 for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

Laura, who has received treatment at the hospital in Sheffield, said: “It was a really, really fantastic day and everyone had so much fun – a lot of tea was drunk and a lot of cake was eaten.

“The money will be going to such a good cause,” she added.

Laura’s proud mum Sue, of Hilltop Road, Wingerworth, said: “Despite her illness, Laura lives life to the full – she is an inspiration.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came to the tea party and made donations.”
