A DOCTOR’S surgery was forced to close after a car crashed into it.
Patients of Holme Hall medical centre, on Wardgate Way, Chesterfield, had to travel to sister branch Avondale Surgery in the town centre for all services after the vehicle hit its front gates on Sunday at 8.10pm.
The surgery was closed Monday, and only able to receive prescriptions on Tuesday, but expected to reopen on Wednesday October 18.
“It’s caused a lot of disruption”, said Kate Chilton, practice director.
“Patients have had to travel to Avondale Surgery, which has cost them bus fare, and parking there is a nightmare already.
“We’re hoping to reopen on Wednesday but there is thousands of pounds worth of damage as a result.”
• The driver of the car, a Chesterfield man aged 26, has been charged with drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of an collision.
He will appear before magistrates next month.
