DOZENS of people have signed a petition calling for a key debate on controversial primary schools admission policies.
As reported in last week’s Derbyshire Times, fed-up parents are calling for families with children already at any school to get equal place priority to those living in the catchment area.
They say siblings are separated, youngsters made to move schools and families struggle because of the “unfair” Government rules.
And since last week a further 130 people have signed their petition, which needs 7,500 signatures to trigger a county debate on the topic.
“The feedback has been very supportive”, said petition organiser, mum-of-four Emma Agutter.
“People have told us they’ve been affected by it too and are on the same page – they think it’s crazy we’re considered a statistic and only as individuals when appealing decisions.”
