The lottery funded project will see £1m handed out to voluntary organisations and groups in the area in a ten year period.

Hazel Simpson, steering group and committee member said: “We are very proud about what we have managed and the stories from groups gaining funding are really encouraging. The community chest makes a real difference and has already helped local groups a lot.

“Seeing the faces of the applicants that are really helping to make a difference to small groups makes us feel we have won the lottery ourselves.”

The local football team and drama group have both benefitted from cash donated from the Community Chest scheme.

The latest round of groups to be awarded cash will be revealed at the meeting which takes place on Friday February 28 at the community centre on Kenilworth Drive, from 5.30pm - 7.30pm.

All are welcome to attend.
