Pupils are going back to the future to celebrate their school’s 20th anniversary year.
Newbold Community School will be staging Annie next week, which revisits their first ever whole school production two decades ago.
With a cast of over 50 students and staff, stage director Lesley Singleton has had her work cut out but said: “It’s been so much fun to return to Annie after 20 years. With such a wealth of talent, rehearsals are never a chore.”
Lucy Hooper plays the title role, characterising a plucky optimistic orphan in 1930s New York who sets out to find her real parents and escape the cruel hands of orphanage owner Miss Hannigan, played by Jessica Widdowson.
Little orphan Annie finds herself spending Christmas with wealthy Oliver Warbucks (played by Edward Jowel) and his kind assistant Grace (Laura Watkin) and eventually begins a new life with them after having many adventures along the way.
The show runs from Tuesday 22nd March – Friday 25th March, starting at 7pm each evening.
Tickets for Annie are available from Newbold Community School, priced £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
