Twistin’ Tots and Twistin Tikes – the Derbyshire music and movement classes for under fives – held Halloween sessions for toddlers and babies to dress up and get into the spirit of all things spooky.

Spiders, fairies, witches, bats, skeletons, pumpkins and ghosts all made an appearance at the themed class and danced along to songs including, Mary had a little Spider, Five Black and Hairy Bats and the Five Green Goblins.

Jacqui Davis, Twistin’ Tots founder, said, “It was fantastic to see the children and parents getting into the spirit of Halloween. Some of the costumes were really amazing.”

Jacqui awarded prizes to the best costumes and winners were three-year-old Paige for her cat costume, one-year-old Kara for her witch outfit, four-year-old Elliott who dressed up as a spider and two-year-old Joel who had dressed up as a monster.

Jacqui added: “Everyone made such an effort but those are the costumes that really stood out.

“The winners of the competitions all received a Twistin Tots or Twistin Tikes tee-shirts, and all the children received some Halloween chocolates. We even had some parents dressing up and getting into the spirit of classes too!”

Twistin’ Tots and Twistin Tikes classes aim to promote learning, co-ordination and movement in young children. Simple actions are used that children can join in with, plus puppets and props to assist children’s learning development and motor skills.
All classes help to develop the skills required by the early year’s foundation stage for when children start school. Classes are suitable from birth to aged five.

“We are always happy to see new faces, both youngsters and their parents come along and see what we are all about.”
