On the Feast of Corporis et Sanguinis Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) Fr Neil Broadbent celebrated a Solemn Mass at St Thomas Church helped at the altar by Sonny Ledger who acted as MC.

Peter Burnham was the thurifer, Granville Stone the crucifer, Michael Woods and David Bradley the acolytes.

Michael Woods read from book of Genesis and he read the Responsorial Psalm 10 ”You are a priest for ever, a priest like Melchizedek of old”. Michael also read from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians.

In his homily Fr Neil concentrated on aspects of the transubstantiation of the bread and wine, that is the change into the body and blood of Christ whilst keeping their normal appearence. He told of miracles in 1970 in Stich, a village in Germany on the Swiss border. After celebrating Mass a visiting priest from Switzerland noticed a brown stain where the chalice had stood. This was sent to the University of Zurich where it was confirmed that the spot

was blood! This happened again a few days later and was witnessed by others with same results.

After Mass refreshments were served in the Village Hall by Robert and Marjory Kettle.
