SNOW: Council shuts up shop in Chesterfield

Many council services in Chesterfield are having to close due to the snow, a borough council spokesman has confirmed.

A decision has been taken to close the council’s customer service centre (although the call centre is still operating at the current time), visitor information centre and museum.

All rubbish collections have been stopped. If your bin was due to be collected today and wasn’t before the snow came then leave it out and it will be collected at the first opportunity.

The comedy show at the Winding Wheel and Stage Struck show at the Pomegranate Theatre productions have both been cancelled as the actors are unable to make it.

The crematorium is going to complete all services but will then close.

At the moment the Queen’s Park Sports Centre and the Healthy Living Centre at Staveley are open but conditions around both leisure centres are poor so check with them before travelling.
