SINGERS and dancers will be putting on the Ritz when they celebrate some of the greatest Hollywood films ever made.

Songs including Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Unchained Melody from Ghosts, My Heart Will Go On from Titanic and Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray will feature in a show in Dronfield next week.

The performers will include Zoe Barker, an A-level student at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, and her grandmother Marilyn, who both live in Dronfield.

Richard Carlin, who is the partner of Marilyn Barker’s daughter Emma, will slip into the guise of suave James Bond to sing From Russia With Love.

Louise Grayson, a prominent member of the Dronfield Players, and Adele Beckett from Mosborough will also be among the singers.

The show, entitled Woodseats Goes to the Movies, will be presented at Dronfield Civic Hall from Wednesday to Saturday, May 25-28, at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Mary Newman, chairman of Woodseats Musical Theatre Company, has expressed thanks to Sainsburys for the donation of interval refreshments. She said: “In 2005, Woodseats MTC were hit financially when audiences stayed away during show week when the G8 came to Sheffield, but we are slowly beginning to build the company back up again, and we are delighted that Sainsburys are supporting us in this way.

“Giving us the tea and coffee, soft drinks and all the drinks we need for our interval is a major saving for us and a welcome boost to our finances. We are very grateful to Jo Brougham, the PR ambassador of Sainsburys, for arranging this.”
