ENTRANTS to an award scheme that rewards groups and organisations for their work in boosting the health of people in the area have been shortlisted.

The Healthy Places Awards – which was launched in October by NHS Derbyshire County in collaboration with the Derbyshire Times – attracted nominations from a wide range of projects.

But following extensive consideration, including visits to many of the groups, the entrants were whittled down to nine potential winners.

Those shortlisted include Blackwell Voluntary Youth Club, Transition Chesterfield, the Freedom Community Project, Brimington Village Friends, Chesterfield Canal Trust, the Three Treasures Tai Chi Group, Hasland Hall Park Community Association and Neighbourhood Watch, Calow Church of England Primary School and Rhubarb Farm.

All of the nine shortlisted will receive a cash prize, and three have been chosen by a panel of judges who will go to a Derbyshire Times readers vote for a further cash reward.

To find out more about the top three projects and about how you can vote for your favourite, see next week’s Derbyshire Times.
