SHIREBROOK: Film-star animals in focus at Rotary Club meeting

The Warsop, Shirebrook and District Rotary Club met at the Hostess Restaurant on Thursday with 18 members present and chaired by senior vice-president John Welsh.

Speaker for the evening was Pat Ward who gave an interesting and informative talk by telling various humorous tales of working with animals. Pat runs Prop Farm Ltd with her husband Les and loans animals from her farm for use in films and television. She often invites the actors to visit the farm in order to meet the animals with whom they will be working; these have included such names as Trevor Eve, Francesca Annis, Michael Elphick - who came to ride the horse that would feature in Boon - and Tara Fitzgerald who learned to ride side-saddle.

On Saturday, September 14, at Teversal Manor Rooms the club, together with the Inner Wheel Club of Warsop, is holding a ‘Pimms and Promises’ afternoon to raise funds for both clubs.
