Buxton puppet theatre group Funny Wonders is asking people to tell them their family stories from the Great War which they can incorporate into a mixed media film called ‘Shadows of War’ about its effect on the town.

The Devonshire Royal Hospital – now the University of Derby Buxton campus – was turned into a hospital where writer Vera Brittain worked, inspiring her book about the conflict’s tragic loss of life.

If there is sufficient response, Funny Wonders would put together an exhibition to accompany a screening of the film in August, followed by an outdoor screening in November.

If you have a story or photos email [email protected] or write to Funny Wonders, 10b St James Terrace, SK17 6HS.
