Reader Paul Brentnall took this colourful shot along the Erewash Canal in Langley Mill.
The canal is 12 miles long and was completed in 1779 at a cost of £21,000.
The waterway was a commercial success from the start and mainly transported coal.
The canal’s success kept it going for far longer than many others in the face of competition from the railways.
Send in your pictures too, if you are out and about at the weekend as we’d love to see them and they could be featured.
