Music, comedy, and the antics of the Segway Pirates are just some of the activities planned for Chesterfield town centre on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Walkabout characters will entertain the children around Chesterfield’s main market square including stilt walking, face painting and a close up magician while the pirates travel in style on Segways to impress young and old.

Adults will have the chance to be market traders for the day, by selling their wares at the table top sale. Just book a stall from only £8, bring your unwanted goods, enjoy the market atmosphere and make some money.

The open air market and many of the town’s major stores will also be open throughout the bank holiday weekend.

Cllr Nick Stringer, executive member for leisure, culture and tourism at Chesterfield Borough Council said: “This is a great day out for everyone with something to do for all ages. It’s a real showcase for Chesterfield town centre so come along and support the local shops and market and enjoy the free entertainment on offer.”

Chesterfield’s famous ‘Crooked Spire’ will also be open between 10.00am and 3.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday where you can experience breath-taking views of Chesterfield from the top of the tower and learn the history behind the 228 foot crooked spire.
