FESTIVE revellers are already rolling out their parties but nothing captures the Christmas spirt better than those who gather to support worthy causes.
Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice, The League of Friends with Clay Cross Hospital and the Chesterfield Mayor Peter Barr have been among the first to spread a little joy as we draw closer to Christmas.
The Hospice, on Ashgate Road, hosted its Christmas Market with young and old and a special visit from its bear mascot Ashley.
A hospice spokesman said: “Our wonderful event raised £8,550 with stalls, tombolas and donations and this is the most money our annual Christmas Market has ever raised so we’d like to thank all our volunteers and everyone who was involved.”
Chesterfield Mayor and Mayoress, Chesterfield Borough Cllr Peter Barr and Jean Barr, hosted the town’s annual mayoral fair with raffles and stalls at the Town Hall.
They helped raised £347 to be shared between Ashgate Hospice and the Neena Kind Cancer Drop-in Centre
League of Friends group members also brought cheer and support to those at Clay Cross Hospital with their own Christmas fair.
