Olympic cycling ace Bryan Steel shared his inspiring story of success with pupils of Tibshelf Community School.

Bryan, a four times Olympian, a medallist in two consecutive Olympic Games and five world championships, spoke of his achevements and how he got there from a very humble and difficult childhoold.

He was among the guest speakers at a specialist Equipped2Succeed event which was attended by 68 pupils from Year 10 and 11.

The emphasis of the event was that through hard work and goal-setting everyone can achieve special things.

Throughout the two days, nine teams of pupils competed in a cycle challenge, by keeping the cycles in motion every time they had a break from talks by guest speakers.

Prizes were awarded to the teams travelling the furthest distance and praise was given to Bradley Lowbridge who managed to cycle 16,021 metres over lunchtime!

Special recognition was given to pupils who had made an outstanding contribution to the two days and were identified as the ‘Dream Team’, composed of Tyler Bond, Matt Cooper, Emily Wall, Ashleigh Le Cuirot, Bailey Jones, Naomi Atterby-Coke, Wesley Bough, Callum Fantom , Ryan Harper , Ashleigh Hill, Paisley-Mae Brock and Ryan Brailsford, who are pictured above.
