THREE daring folk have taken to the skies for a parachute jump to raise cash for a a school’s new play equipment.

Wirksworth Junior School teaching assistant Allison McCrae, governor Johnny Rowlatt and parent John Rogers collected £1,500 with their leap of faith at Langar Airfield.

They even got more than they bargained for because the pilot took them to 13,000 ft rather than 10,000 as expected because of good weather.

Allison said: “The experience was amazing, although I’m not sure I would repeat it!”

Around £1,500 has been raised towards the playground appeal thanks to the jump and a jive night organised by Allison.

The school has set a target of £10,000 to install new play equipment.
