REVELLERS are preparing to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton with a picnic in a pew after their church agreed to screen the event.
All Saints Church, Ashover, is hosting the picnic event and inviting residents along, thanks to organisers Kate Phelan, Claire Harrison and Lindsay Stevens.
Claire said: “We’re asking people to bring their bubbly and picnic items and watch the wedding while sharing a meal.”
TV dealers Farmers, of Matlock, donated a special aerial and the wedding will be screened live from 10am, on April 29.
The event will be free, but donations are welcome to cover costs.
Other events include “A Right Royal Celebration” at St Mary’s Church, Crich, where people can bring their own picnic from 5.30pm to 7pm. This will be followed by a Big Sing from 7pm to 9.30pm. Entry is free, but again donations are welcome.
Residents Mike and Lynn Ward have also organised a street party for neighbours in Westbrook Drive, Westbrook Close and The Knoll, at Brookside, Chesterfield.
