Youngsters in South Normanton and Pinxton are invited to two free OzBox sessions taking place during the summer.

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team are working with the OzBox team to deliver the fun boxing based fitness training for eight to 18-year-olds.

They will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, 1st August the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, and on Thursday 8th August at the village hall, Pinxton.

PCSO Becky Davis of the South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The sessions have been set up to give local young people the chance to try something new over the summer. It’s free, it’s fun and it can help you stay fit.

“We’ve held sessions in Pinxton before which have been popular and we hope these sessions will be just as successful.”

OzBox was first set up by police in Chesterfield and involves non-contact boxing and fitness training which are designed to improve confidence, discipline and fitness.

They also aim to encourage young people to take pride in themselves and in their community.

To take part youngsters will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
