Big-hearted folk have splashed out hundreds of pounds for an appeal to improve a school’s swimming pool.

A festive collection in Alfreton by the town’s Rotary Club and a donation by fellow club Amber Valley Rotary resulted in a cheque for £1,000 being presented to Alfreton Park School.

The money will go towards the school’s Raise the Roof campaign for much needed improvements to the swimming pool.

The cheque was presented by the Alfreton club’s president Terry Marshall to assistant headteacher Cheryl Smart and pool manager Margaret Clarke at the school assembly.

Thanks have been expressed by Alfreton rotarians for all those who supported their efforts.
