Rotarians have driven up the funds of Ashgate Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity with the presentation of cheques for £1,600 to each organisation.

The money was raised at a Classic Car and Bike Show, held at Renishaw Hall, which was organised by the Rotary Club of Chesterfield.

The presentation to representatives of the charities was made by the president of the Rotary Club of Chesterfield Jim Haggarty at a meeting of the club, which was attended by the show’s main sponsor Tony Cordin, director of Autoworld.

Cheques were presented to Alison Ward-Foster, fund-raiser for Ashgate Hospice, Gillian Scotford, ambassador for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, and Helen Gentle, fund-raiser for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, who reported that the donation would go to a new fund set up for the pioneering of new treatments not provided by the NHS.
