Rotarians’ golden handouts to charities

Big-hearted Rotarians have honoured the work of volunteers by handing over cheques to deserving causes.

Big-hearted Rotarians have honoured the work of volunteers by handing over cheques to deserving causes.

The cheques were presented on behalf of Ripley Rotary Club by its president, Owen J. Briggs, at Lumb Farm, Marehay.

Awards were made to the following: Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ilkeston branch, £740 received by Jack Webster and Glenys Salt; the Penguin Club, Belper, £425 received by Caroline Dallow and Tony Store; Beating Bowel Cancer, £460 with a further £140 donation from Rtn Stuart Rice in memory of his mother Hilda received by Paul Gregg; Ripley Hospital League of Friends, £200 received by John Briggs; Aqua Box, £100 received by Mike Tomlinson; Jaipur Limb Project, £100 received by Rtn David Ashley and winner of the club’s annual grocery grab, £100 voucher for Lyn Jones.
