Double yellow lines are being placed on both sides of Flowery Leys Lane from its junction with Nottingham Road in Alfreton after concerns raised by local residents.

Motorists park along the Flowery Leys junction making it difficult for vehicles to see oncoming traffic and in an area where many children walk to school.

Derbyshire County Council’s Coun Dean Collins, said: “We always encourage walking to school where possible as a healthier, more environmentally friendly option to driving, so it’s important that children’s journey to school is as safe as possible.”

The restrictions are intended to be put in place later in the year.
