PLANS for a new village hall and shop have been submitted in Wessington.
Residents hope the site, off Matlock Road, will be transformed if the application is approved by North East Derbyshire District Council on February 14.
The plan also includes nine houses.
Joe Cummins, of the village hall development committee, said: “Residents have been wanting a village hall for over 20 years. We did a survey of 150 residents and 138 were strongly in favour of the plans.
“You have to drive to Matlock or Alfreton just to get a pint of milk or newspaper.”
The hall will provide a play group, youth club, internet facilities, keep fit classes and hire space for parties.
