MORRISONS stores is inviting residents to two public consultations and exhibitions to show off its plans to develop a new multi-million pound supermarket in Bolsover.
The company aims to develop on the site of the Bolsover District Council Sherwood Lodge offices, off Oxcroft Lane, in the town, after the local authority has announced cost-saving plans to sell its HQ and move to Clowne College Campus.
James Smith, Morrisons development executive, said: “We’re very excited about the development proposal for a new concept store in Bolsover.
“The new Morrisons store will create a significant number of new jobs with excellent training and development opportunities targeted at local people and act as a retail anchor for the economy.”
The consultations will be held at the Assembly Hall, on Hilltop, Bolsover, from 2pm to 7.30pm, on Friday, April 27, in the main hall, and from 9.30am to 3pm, on Saturday, April 28, in the George Bratt Room.
A Bolsover District Council spokesman said the development is subject to the council’s planning approval.
A planning application is expected to be submitted to the district council in May for determination in November and if it gets the go-ahead building may start as soon as February or March, 2013, with completion due at the end of 2013.
