Chesterfield residents have the opportunity to remember fallen heroes from the First World War and subsequent wars for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day later today (Sunday).

The annual Remembrance Sunday service takes place at 2.30pm today at St Mary and All Saints’ Church, the Crooked Spire.

All are welcome to attend, but organisers urge people to be seated by 2pm as the service will be busy.

The service will be followed by a parade from the church, through the town centre and along Knifesmith Gate to the war memorial at Rose Hill, opposite the town hall.

Also in attendance will be: The Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield; The Duke and Dutchess of Devonshire; Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins, and many more.

People are also invited to attend the wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial from approximately 3.30pm.
