Budding gourmet experts served up a healthy treat with TV celebrity chef Raymond Blanc when he visited The Bolsover School to share his culinary tips.
The pupils and their catering provider Chartwells took part in a competition as part of the School Food Plan programme and won a visit from the super chef with a Chartwells’ on Your Marks cookery session.
Raymond said: “Children need to learn the simple magic of taking food from the seed, from the earth and transforming it into something simple and delicious.”
Two teams also took part in a cooking competition during last Tuesday’s visit.
Headteacher Gordon Inglis said; “We’re trying to do our bit in getting future generations to understand the value of a balanced diet and who better to show us than Raymond Blanc. This event inspired our pupils to cook and eat healthily and I enjoyed my role as chief taster.”
The school has pilot-tested a food standards for lunches as part of the Food Plan. n Go online for more photos.
