POLICE have told how a man who stole more than £8,000 in cash and stock from the pub he managed has been jailed.
Derby Crown Court heard how David Cox, 32, was employed as the manager of the Cavendish Hotel, Bolsover, between November 2010 and February 2011.
During that time, according to police, he stole takings amounting to more than £6,300 and alcohol and food worth £2,000.
The theft was discovered by the licensee who contacted police in February.
A police spokesman said Cox, of Westmoreland Grove, Bridlington, also borrowed almost £3,000 from three customers and disappeared without paying them back and he was arrested in Bridlington by Humberside Police in April.
Cox pleaded guilty to four counts of theft and was jailed for 12 months at a hearing, at Derby Crown Court, in November.
