This week we’re turning the spotlight on not one but two Derbyshire primary schools.
First up to star in our popular Primary Focus feature is Speedwell Infant School, on Lime Avenue, Staveley.
Derbyshire Times photographer Lindsay Martin has visited the school to take this lovely group shot which will be on page 41 of this week’s paper.
In its latest Ofsted report, Government inspectors praised the school.
In a letter to pupils, they said: “It was a delight and a privilege to visit your good school.
“I really enjoyed talking to you all and listened very carefully to what you had to say.
“You say that your teachers are nice and kind and I agree.
“They do keep you very safe indeed and value each and every one of you.
“I was impressed by your good behaviour and the way that you make such an important contribution to the school.
“And I noticed that you often try to help each other in class as well as helping your teachers,” added the inspector.
Primary Focus showcases the county’s wonderful schools and our website you can watch videos of pupils learning, singing – and more.
Since its launch last year, it has become one of the paper’s most popular features.
