A PRE-HISTORIC heritage site’s visitor centre is to be honoured with a top architecture award.

Creswell Crags’ Museum and Education Centre, off Crags Road, Welbeck, has been named as a 2011 Royal Institute of British Architects’ Award winner.

RIBA East Midlands chairman Julian Owen said: “I’d like to congratulate Creswell Crags and architects OMI.”

OMI Architects, who designed the centre for the cave site, was praised for blending the structure with the landscape.
