Police warning after Wirksworth incident

Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity following an incident in Wirksworth.

At around 4.30am on Tuesday, April 29, four men were seen to be acting suspiciously around a van that was parked outside a property on Yokecliffe Crescent in Wirksworth.

A resident disturbed the men who then got into a car a quickly drove away. No entry was gained to the vehicle.

PC Mathew Winterbottom from the Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I would like to encourage all residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to us so that we are able to stop a crime from happening.

“The team will be heading out on increased patrols in the area and we will be speaking to motorists about the steps that they can take to increase their security and protect their property from criminals.”
