Police warning after cold caller incident
Police are urging Dales residents to remain vigilant after a suspicious incident in Bakewell.
A post office worker reported that an elderly couple came in and asked for Ukash vouchers. When he enquired further he was told that they had received a phone call from someone who claimed the residents had won money and to release it they had to give the person on the phone the voucher numbers. Ukash is an electronic payment method for people who wish to shop online without credit or debit cards.
People are advised to only give the code to approved merchants and not to cold callers or over email.
