Police stage activities for youngsters

Young people in the Belper and Kilburn areas are being invited to take part in some fun filled events taking place on Friday nights for the next six weeks.

Friday night Vibe, which has been organised by Sporting Futures and the Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership, will give youngsters the chance to take part in a host of free activities.

Some of the activities on offer are set to include handball, football, badminton, dance, NERF, KMXing, Laser Tag and OzBox. Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team will also be calling in to help out and meet local youngsters.

PC Neil Hopwell of the Kilburn area Safer Neighbourhood policing team said: “This is a great chance for local young people to get involved with a variety of different free activities and meet with their friends, especially if they are looking for something to do on a Friday night.”

All young people between the ages of 11 and 17 are welcome to come along. The events will take place at the Blue Box Community Centre, on Park Road, Belper, between 7pm and 9pm on Friday, February 28, Friday, March 4 and Friday, March 14.

They will then move to Church Street Recreation Ground in Kilburn and take place between 7pm and 9pm on Friday, March 21, Friday, March 28 and Friday, April 4. For more information contact Rachel Basile at Sporting Futures by emailing [email protected], or call PC Neil Hopwell on 101.
