A CHESTERFIELD man who was caught with drugs in his car has been handed a suspended prison sentence and had his car forfeited to Derbyshire police.

Carl Ravey, 30, was stopped by officers in his Honda Civic on Fern Avenue, Staveley on November 3, 2011.

He was found in possession of cannabis and when officers searched his home they found a number of cannabis plants and other paraphernalia. He was arrested and his car was seized by police.

Ravey, of Devon Drive, Brimington was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply and production of cannabis.

He pleaded guilty and was given a 10 month suspended prison sentence and 180 hours unpaid work at a hearing at Derby Crown Court on Friday, July 6. His car was also forfeited to police at the hearing.
