Police make arrest after death of 20-year-old Alfreton man

A man who was arrested after the death of a 20-year-old in Alfreton has been released on bail.

Police discovered the body of Halcyon Theuri, 20, of Oakerthorpe, on Wingfield Road at 3.55am on Bank Holiday Monday after receiving a 999 call.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has been questioned by police and released on bail pending further investigations.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “The investigation team is appealing to anyone who was in the area of the A615 Oakerthorpe to Alfreton road between 3am and 4am that morning to contact them.

“Also, if anyone has noticed any damage to a car that may have happened overnight, they are asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 153 of August 31.”
