TWO men who stole a Land Rover were captured and sentenced for aggravated vehicle taking after they were pursued across two counties.
Ben Newey and Joshua Marson were sentenced at Derby Crown Court, on November 1.
Newey, 23, of Rotherham Road, Maltby, was jailed for 18 months for aggravated vehicle taking, destroying or damaging property and endangering rail passengers after the vehicle was abandoned on a railway line. He pleaded guilty to each offence.
Marson, 18, of Rowan Rise, Maltby, was given a 12 month supervision order after he admitted aggravated vehicle taking.
The vehicle failed to stop for Derbyshire police on the M1 around 2.45am on May 11. They followed the vehicle into South Yorkshire and were joined by South Yorkshire officers who arrested the offenders. Police said the vehicle had been taken from a house in Matlock.
