Police investigating the theft of money from a church believe the thief hid inside the building before breaking out with the cash.
St Mary and St Lawrence Church in High Street, Bolsover, held a flower festival yesterday.
The building was locked up at 7.30pm and shortly before 10am today the church warden arrived and found a window had been smashed and money from the collection was missing.
It is thought that the thief hid inside the church, waiting until the festival-goers had left.
A man was seen acting suspiciously around the collection pots during the festival. He is described as white, in his early 30s and around 5ft 9in tall. He had short brown hair and wore a black jumper, blue jeans and white trainers.
