Police appeal after thefts in Hathersage area

Police are appealing for information following theft from two vehicles in the Hathersage area.

Between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday, August 20, thieves smashed a window of a green coloured Vauxhall Corsa and carried out a search of the vehicle.

A number of items were taken including a Garmin Sat Nav, aftershave, a rucksack and clothing.

The vehicle was parked in a rural layby on the A6187 between Hathersage and Foxhouse.

On Thursday, August 22 the front passenger window of a white Volkswagen van was smashed and a Clarion stereo was removed by thieves.

The incident took place between 11am and 1.15pm in a layby in the Higger Tor area of Stanage Edge.

Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to them on 101, always dial 999 in an emergency.

Officers are advising people to make sure that their vehicles are properly secure, with the windows up and that any valuables are removed from the vehicle or left completely out of view.
