Police are appealing for information after a suspected robbery in Whittington Moor.

The victim, an 18 year-old man, was walking under the subway between Pottery Lane East and Pottery Lane West with a group of friends when they were approached by two men on a white moped at about 11.30pm on Saturday.

The men chased the group for a short distance onto King Street North, near to Willets Sweets, where they blocked the path of the victim and demanded money.

He refused to hand over cash and the men fought with the victim, who eventually left the bag he was carrying and walked away.

The victim was taken to hospital after suffering swelling to his face and a sprained ankle.

Both offenders were white and in their late teens or early 20s. One of the men was wearing a raincoat, jogging bottoms and trainers. The other was wearing a dark hooded top, jogging bottoms and trainers.

Anyone with information should contact DC Katherine Hodges at Chesterfield CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
