Police are appealing for information after a shop in Whitwell was broken into.

Officers were called at around 3.30am on Tuesday, September 1 following reports of a burglary at Whitwell News, in Welbeck Street.

Offenders smashed a window to gain entry before stealing the till and its contents. They left the scene in a car, thought to be a Nissan Micra, and headed towards Hodthorpe.

Anyone with information about the incident, or who noticed a car speeding off from the area, is urged to contact PC Nicola Palethorpe on 101 quoting crime number 37432/15.
