Police and police dogs have tonight carried out a 'thorough search' of Chesterfield Hotel after receiving reports of trespassers entering the empty building.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Somebody contacted us to say they saw people going into the property so police and police dogs attended. They have carried out a thorough search of the building which took a while as it is very big. However, nobody has been found."
